On this fine morning I would like to discuss the notion of creative collapse.  This unfortunate ailment is so often the result of the over enthusiastic pursuit of some idea or another, to a completely illogical and unsatisfying end.   It is rarely interesting and is a sign of mediocrity.  Do not romanticise your writers block or ridiculous struggle with the muse; you are dull.  Some say write what you see, but I’d sell my eyes for stones before I let them drop on the fetid landscape of your psyche.  Creative collapse is often a sign of poor foundations, you built your bridge of paper and now its raining.  There is nothing to be redeemed from this.

About Roy Smith

Roy Smith lives in the Medway Towns, where he works with young people and spends a lot of time writing nonsense and enjoying himself. Most of his writing happens at night and other inconvenient moments, when he is regularly interrupted by his dog and the desire to play old video games.
